All-Conference Teams...The Alumni Challenge

All right, very simple. The six "power" conferences (Big 10, Big 12, Big East, ACC, SEC, and Pac-10) plus an extra. 53 man NFL-type rosters made from current NFL players representing these conferences. All-Star teams basically. Some stipulations...I first tried to make an entire team of just guys from Miami/Florida St., but between these two schools there is not a single current NFL quarterback, so I had to scratch that idea. I will be doing a Big East team, a Big 10 team, a seperate team of just Ohio St./Michigan guys. Also, a Big 12 team but another seperate team of just Texas/Oklahoma guys. A Pac-10 team which by necessity is like 1/2 USC guys. The SEC will be divided into two teams; one from SEC West schools, another from SEC East schools. Simple enough right.

I am choosing a college coach from each conference to coach the team. The rosters will be plugged into Madden and a simulation tourney will be conducted. Too much time on my hands (house arrest courtesy of the state of Rhode Island). Roster requirements as follows: 3 quarterbacks, 4 running backs, 4 wide receivers, 3 tight ends, 7 offensive linemen regardless of C, G, or T...1 kick returner, 1 punt returner, 1 kicker and 1 punter. Also, 4 defensive ends and 4 defensive tackles (assume a 4-3 defense), 6 linebackers regardless of ILB, OLB...4 corners and 4 safties. A six-man practice squad to get to 53 guys. A final team will be made up of players that went to a school outside of these big 6 conferences. Notre Dame players will be either on the "extra" team or placed on the Big East roster if that roster is short of players (due to ND's Big East basketball status). I will post one roster everyday until the teams are set. Today, we have the ACC coached by Frank Beamer. Tomorrow, the Big East. I know a lot of good players will have to be left off these rosters..that will serve only to stir more debate. Assume depth chart by numbers except with linemen, linebackers, corners and safeties. Enjoy.
